Your home state of North Carolina is part of the Driver's License Compact (DLC) while Georgia is not. However Georgia has agreements with other states to exchange and receive in information regarding tickets drivers received out of state.
According to the NCDOT Division of Motor Vehicles, if you are convicted of certain moving violations which take place within the State of North Carolina, driver license points are placed against your record. The DMV does not mention points for out of state offenses.
The NC Driver Handbook talks about out of state convictions and does not state the DLC so it would appear this is so for any state that shares violations of their motorist with the NC DMV, here it states the offense will go on your driving record.
The DMV also does state that convictions occurring outside NC may result in your license being suspended or revoked if the violation would have resulted in these penalties if the offenses had taken place in North Carolina.
In NC your driving privilege will be revoked for at least 30 days if you are convicted of driving any vehicle more than 15 mph over the speed limit, if you are driving at a speed higher than 55 mph. Because you were doing this, if you plead guilty or nolo contendere in GA for this speeding citation it would appear your license would be suspended in NC. You can check with the NCDOT to find out for certain if this or other penalties will be assigned to your NC driver's license if you plea NOLO for your Georgia speeding violation.
