North Carolina and Florida are both members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC). This Compact allows NC courts to report back to Florida information regarding your out of state speeding ticket.
When Florida finds out about this moving violation the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Services (HSMV) will add the out of state citation to your driving record and assess points if the offense is a point-accessible violation according to Florida statutes.
Florida law does not allow any school or program to remove points for a ticket received in another state. Any unpaid ticket reported by another state will result in the suspension of your Florida license. If this has happened you must contact the county where you received the ticket and obtain a receipt with the Court seal.
Once the North Carolina speeding ticket is reported to Florida and put on your driving record, it could affect your insurance rates. You insurance company will thus see it the next time they run your motor vehicle record (MVR).Since insurance companies rating systems differ, you will need to contact your insurance company to find out about their rating system and if this NC traffic infraction will raise your premiums.
If your rates do rise you can get a quote for affordable car insurance here.
