The points assigned to different traffic offenses differ by state however most states do not assign points to parking tickets. These types of tickets in many areas are usually administration or municipal tickets. In many states they are not placed on our driving record or assigned points.
To find out if the state where you received the ticket places the ticket on your driving record and assigns it points call the court on listed on the citation and/or the state's Department of Motor Vehicles.
As you know there are several federal and state rules that affect drivers with a commercial license (CDL) operating commercial vehicles (CMVs) in all states. Among them are:
You must notify your employer within 30 days of conviction for any traffic violations (except parking). This is true no matter what type of vehicle you were driving.
You must notify your motor vehicle licensing agency within 30 days if you are convicted in any other jurisdiction of any traffic violation (except parking). This is true no matter what type of vehicle you were driving.
As you see parking tickets are excluded from these federal and state rules so likely the parking ticket will not affect your CDL but again check with the DMV that licensed you to drive the commercial vehicle to find out for certain.
