According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance (DOI) consumer guide to auto insurance, after receiving a claim an insurance company has 30 days to pay the claim, make an offer of settlement, deny the claim or advise the claimant that the investigation of the claim is ongoing.
Loss and claim payments should be mailed or delivered within 10 business days after the claim is settled.
If you need more information how to deal with a third party claim for damages to your vehicle that needs to be repaired through the at fault party's property damage liability policy, speak with the claims adjuster assigned to your claim. For more consumer advice or information on North Carolina insurance laws you can contact the NC DOI.
