Illinois as well as your home state of MissouriĀ are both members of the Drivers License Compact. This agreement requires member states to report tickets received by motorists back to the state where they received their license. This means that convictions of the the Illinois speeding ticket and seat belt violation will be reported back to Missouri.
The Missouri Division of Motor Vehicle and Drivers Licensing, part of the MO Department of Revenue (DOR), normally adds points to your record when it receives notice that you were convicted of a traffic violation while your vehicle was in motion for in-state offenses. The MO DOR does not state specifically what it does with out of state traffic violation information. So you can contact the Missouri DMV directly and find out if your IL tickets will be added to your record and assigned points and if so how many for your specific traffic violations.
If points are assessed then it would likely be from the Missouri point system. We did not see on this list any points for a seat belt violation but speeding can be worth 2 or 3 points.
If the Illinois speeding citation is added to your MO driving record your insurance company will find out about the traffic offenses the next time they pull your motor vehicle record and see the violation listed on your driving record.
If you want to continue researching the Drivers License Compact and its affect on Missouri drivers, it is mentioned under section 302.600 of the Missouri Revised Code.
