Actually in South Carolina you want to reduce your point total, not add to it. The more points you accumulate the worse your driving record is and you may be termed a negligent driver or habitual offender.
There is a provision in the South Carolina law that allows for a driver to reduce points on their license by four (4) upon successful completion of an approved defensive driving course. Only one such reduction in a 3 year period is permitted under this state law though.
You should check with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles or the SC chapter of the National Safety Council to see what approved defensive driving courses are available in the Pleasant / Charleston area of SC.
Customer service representatives of the SC DMV are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at (803) 896-5000.
