Yes, there is a type of SR-22 available to people who need this certificate of insurance but do not own a motor vehicle, it is referred to as a non-owners SR22.
A non-owners SR-22 generally will allow you to drive any vehicle that you are given permission by the owner to drive and verifies to the state regulatory body that you have means of financial responsibility.
A non-owner policy does not cover you in any vehicle you drive. Each state is different, but as a general rule it will not cover you for a vehicle registered to you, one in your household, or a vehicle provided for your regular and frequent use. If you have a vehicle registered to you, one in your household, or someone provides a vehicle for your regular and frequent use, you should NOT purchase a non-owner policy for coverage. You should get a non-owners SR22 only if you do not own a car or have access to a car which you could place a SR-22 on.
You may obtain a non-owners liability SR22 insurance policy with some of our partner companies. You can obtain a quote for a non-owner SR-22 policy by following the link and entering your zip code.
