Safeco's Teensurance™ is an exciting comprehensive program for parents and their teen driver that gives parents peace of mind as well as ways to help their kids become safer drivers.

Teensurance™ includes a set of online tools based on an on-board GPS and a notification technology termed the Safety Beacon™. This device provides real-world services to give parents peace of mind and help keep teens safe on the road. This collection of tools enables families to take proactive steps to monitor their teen's behavior behind the wheel.

Parents can set speed, distance and curfew limitations and affords them access to their teens' vehicles with real- time notification so they will know if their teen drivers are in danger. Notification is transmitted in real time to parents' computers, home phones, cell phones or other mobile devices when limits are exceeded. Only parents and their teens can access the driving information gathered through the Safety Beacon™.

We are currently unaware of any UK insurer that is offering any service similar to Teensurance™ issued through Safeco. We agree that this is an excellent service for parents of teenagers and hope that in the near future we can report on an insurance provider within the UK that will start providing a similar type of program.
