I recently got a speeding ticket in PA for going 53 in a 35. When I went to the court to try and pay the lady told me that if I plead guilty I will get 4 points on my license and my insurance will raise is this true?

Yes, it is true that a speeding ticket for 18 mph in Pennsylvania comes with 4 points if you plead guilty and pay the fine and that this violation could also possibly affect your insurance rates.

According to the violation points schedule for PA exceeding the speed limit in Pennsylvania by 16 to 25 mph over the posted speed limits is a 4 point offense.

Whether your insurance rates will rise due to this violation being placed on your driving record will depend upon the rating system of your auto insurance provider.

PA allows a surcharge, an additional premium charge, to be added to your auto insurance expense for a limited number of years as a result of traffic violations listed on your driving record. So depending on your insurance's rating system your rates might be affected by this speeding ticket but to find out for certain you will need to discuss this matter with your insurance agent.
