I live in Florida and recently reported an automobile windshield claim. It cost my insurer over $400.00 to replace. Could my auto policy be surcharged for this claim?

Yes, this claim through the physical damages portion of your auto insurance policy for the repair or replacement of your windshield will be a part of your claim history and thus it could affect future rates.

Whether this claim will affect your future insurance premiums or not will depend upon your insurance carrier's rating system. You can discuss with your insurance agent if this claim for your windshield will cause your rates to rise. It is likely that it could affect your rate if their claim ratio is below $400, but it won't be much of a rate difference, if any at all.
