My car was stolen and I still paying on it. Will I have to pay some money to my lender?

If your car was stolen then you should be able to make a claim for the car under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance. If your car is recovered and found to have been damaged enough to be found a total loss or is not found and thus found to be a total loss then your insurance provider should establish was actual cash value is for the vehicle and settle for you for that amount.

Actual cash value (ACV) is basically the worth of your car before it was stolen. If the ACV less than what you owe, you are thus upside down on your loan, then you will still owe the part of the loan that the insurance settlement does not cover. If you have gap insurance then this normally will pay the difference between the comprehensive ACV settlement and the balance of your loan.

If the ACV is more than the amount left on your loan then the lien holder should be paid off and you would get to keep the remaining monies.

To find out if you will owe your lender money after the settlement for the vehicle then you will need to find out what the pay out of your loan is currently and what your stolen vehicle is going to be valued at by your insurance carrier.
