I have a Maryland license, I was flagged down for going 37 on a 30 mile zone. The police instead gave me a warning but ticketed me for not carrying with me a change of address card. Will this translate into points on my license?

No, we do not believe that not carrying your change of address card on you is an offense that has points associated with it in Maryland. However you may want to check the MD Statute 16-402 yourself. Here it lists violations and the assigned points they receive so check it to see if the violation number you were cited under is listed here.

The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration notes that address correction cards for titles should be carried with the vehicle's registration card at all times. If it was a change of address for your driver's license then the MVA notes that individuals who have changed their addresses must notify the MVA within 30 days. You may submit a change of address application and you will be issued a change of address card, which you must carry with your license whenever you operate a motor vehicle or use it for identification.

The court listed on your ticket for this offense should be able to tell you what the penalty will for receiving this citation. To get a quote for low cost Maryland auto insurance click here.
