I was wondering if there are any penalties for a passenger of someone who violates their learners permit?

We are unaware of any penalties handed down for the passenger of a driver who is driving against the restrictions or conditions of their learner's permit. However state laws do differ so there may be some states that do penalize passengers if they are in a car with a driver that is not allowed to either have passengers or to have passengers under a certain age limit.

For example in California violation of passenger or nighttime driving restrictions when you have a learner's permit results in either court-ordered community service or a fine. There is no mention of a penalty for the passengers.

To find out if your state can penalize passengers found in a vehicle against the conditions of the driver's learner permit check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
