Car Insurance Question  Do points for a speeding ticket received in Delaware transfer to New Jersey?

Points from Delaware do not transfer however New Jersey does assign its own points for out of state moving violations.

Delaware and New Jersey are both members of the Driver's License Compact (DLC) which allows each states' courts and department of motor vehicles to exchange information. Thus your DE speeding ticket conviction will be reported to New Jersey, where you are licensed.

According to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, all out-of-state moving violations reported to them are worth two points on your NJ driving record.

So if you plead guilty and are convicted of a speeding ticket in Delaware, you should get two points on your New Jersey driving record for this violation.

If this out of state ticket affects your NJ insurance rates, shop with us for instant car insurance quotes
