How much does your insurance increase after being convicted of driving with no insurance?

How much your rates may be raised after a conviction of driving without insurance will depend upon the rating system of the insurance company in which you obtain auto insurance with after this violation and lapse of coverage.

We are unable to tell you how much your specific rates would rise since individual insurance companies have differing rating systems and because we are not aware of how much you were paying for insurance before your cancellation or lapse in insurance which resulted in you being convicted of driving with no insurance, thus being an uninsured motorist.

We can tell you that most insurance companies will offer a renewal or transfer discount if you are able to provide evidence of prior insurance coverage. Some are so generous with this discount that they allow up to a 30 day lapse in coverage. Due to your lapse in coverage it would appear you would lose out on this type of discount. Also if you were cited for another traffic violation when you were found to be driving without insurance then your driving record is not clean and thus would also affect your rates.

If your previous insurance canceled due to non-payment then finding a new insurer may be more difficult and costly since you will be more of a risk since you have proven to not keep your policy up to date and are willing to drive without insurance on your vehicle.

Your rates are likely to be higher as a motorist who was convicted of driving without insurance then with a person that has a clean driving record and is able to get discounts such as a good driver discount and renewal discount or preferred driver discount. The best way to find to reasonable rates for auto insurance after a conviction for driving without insurance is to shop around. You can start here with us by getting free auto insurance quotes.
