Does the Florida Windshield Law apply to Commercial vehicles such as Shuttles?

Florida Statute 627.7288 stipulates the deductible provisions of ANY policy of motor vehicle insurance, delivered or issued in this state by an authorized insurer, providing comprehensive coverage or combined additional coverage shall not be applicable to damage to the windshield of any motor vehicle covered under such policy. This would include a commercial vehicle policy where comprehensive or glass coverage is a covered peril.

We asked this question directly of the insurance regulatory body for Florida and they gave us the above response. From the information the FLDFS gave it would appear that if the commercial vehicle, shuttle, has an insurance policy where glass is a peril covered under comprehensive or other coverages then the deductible should be waived.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this Florida law and how it applies to commercial vehicle you may want to contact the FLDFS directly. Their Consumer Help Line telephone number is 1-800-342-2762 for calls made within Florida or (850) 413-3132 outside of Florida. Their hours of operation are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. They have Insurance Analyst on duty that should be able to answer your questions about Florida's insurance laws.
