The Maryland Insurance Administration, the insurance regulator for MD, notes that in general an insurance company can repair your vehicle with used or non-OEM parts.
The MD insurance regulator states that an insurer may have your vehicle repaired with parts of like kind and quality, which includes used parts and after market parts known as non-OEM (original equipment manufacturer).
If you were dealing with your own insurance carrier then you have an option to purchase an endorsement that obligates your insurer to use the original equipment manufacturer’s parts.
You instead are dealing with a third party claim through the at-fault party's insurance company so normally if you want to request OEM parts to be used in the repair of your truck then you will need to pay the difference between the parts the insurer wants to use and the parts you would rather have on the truck.
So, no normally you cannot require the insurance company to use only OEM parts without paying the difference of the parts they are want to use for the repairs and are willing to pay for. If you want strictly only OEM parts used in the repair of your vehicle then you would usually have to indeed pay the difference out of pocket.
You can contact the Maryland Insurance Administration to get more consumer information on claims and what types of parts can be used in the repair of vehicles.
