You can read through the terms of your policy to see if you have purchased the optional coverages of collision and comprehensive which are physical damage coverages that you would need to make a claim for damage your car received.
If you collided with a wall or someone hits your vehicle in an accident and leaves so that you cannot make a claim against their insurance (hit and run) then collision coverage would normally cover you for these damages. You would owe the deductible amount you chose when you purchased this coverage.
Comprehensive is another type of optional physical damage coverage. While Collision covers damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other object; comprehensive covers you your vehicle for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged by flood, fire, or animals.
Once again to determine if you have these types of coverages on your car read through your policy and if you still have questions speak with your insurance agent. If you would like a quote for auto insurance on your vehicle that includes collision and comprehensive coverages, click here.
