Is there a time frame in settling an auto claim once the paper work has been processed in the state of TN?

According to the Consumer Insurance Services division of the Tennessee Department of Commerce the statute of limitation that applies to property damage is 36 months (3 years) from the date of the accident.

The statute of limitation for bodily injury in TN is 12 months (1 year) from the date of the accident. Submitting paper work to process a claim will not stop or extend your rights. An agreement to settle a claim must be reached within these time frames or a lawsuit must be filed to stop the statute of limitation from expiring.

If you have other questions or concerns regarding the time period you have to settle an auto insurance claim then contact the TN Consumer Insurance Services at 615 741-2218 or 800-342-4029, if outside of the Davidson County calling area.
