I got a speeding ticket for 24 miles over the 65 mph limit here in PA Turnpike around Philly. My last violation was in June of 2003 where I had 4 points after 2 points were taken off when I took the class. My questions is how many points is it for 24 miles over the speed limit. Is it 4 or 5?

In Pennsylvania point system fact sheet put out by the PennDOT being convicted of a speeding offense of 16 to 25 miles per hour over the speed limit is 4 points and 26 to 30 mph over the posted speed limit is 5 points.

In PA, the Pennsylvania DOT maintains a driving record for every licensed driver in Pennsylvania. Points are added to a driving record when a driver is found guilty of certain driving (moving) violations.

The state of Pennsylvania does allow for point removal for safe driving. Three (3) points are removed from a driving record for every 12 consecutive months a person drives (from the date of the last violation) without a violation which results in points, license suspension or revocation. Once a driving record is reduced to zero and remains at zero points for 12 consecutive months, any further accumulation of points is treated as the first accumulation of points.
