I am driving from Texas to San Jose, Costa Rica, do you provide auto insurance coverage throughout Central America?

CarInsurance.com's online insurance marketplace gives consumers the opportunity to shop for car insurance online as well as purchasing insurance for your temporary visits to Mexico. You can visit our Products and follow the link to Buy Mexico Insurance Online. Here we have an affiliate in which you can purchase a Mexican Tourist Auto Policy with.

This online Mexico insurance is being offered through International Insurance Group, Inc. in conjunction with five of Mexico's largest and most respected insurers, GNP (A.M. Best rating A), ACE Seguros, GE, Zurich Mexico, and ANA Seguros. You will need to speak to an agent with this affiliate of ours to find out if the Mexican auto insurance coverage they offer can be extended to cover you and your vehicle all the way through Central America and into Costa Rica.

Our US insurance companies do not offer this type of coverage since auto insurance from the United States does not extend to Mexico or any of the Central America countries. If you live in Texas and have auto insurance there already you can check with your agent however most all insurers do not cover a vehicle if it is driven into Mexico.

If our affiliate for Mexican insurance is not able to fulfill your needs you may need to find a global auto insurer or one that covers both Mexico and Central America countries. You can look at forums which have members who have made the drive from the US down to Costa Rica to help you find out what car insurance companies may offer you the coverages you need and also give you information on what documentation you will need as you drive through the various countries as you leave Texas for Costa Rica.

In our research we have read about some drivers that have made the journey you are planning and they mentioned an insurance company by the name of Sanborns. The person stated that it offers coverage for Central America and Mexico. We also have seen this insurance company listed in a book written about driving the Pan-American Highway from the United States to Central America. Here the author also noted that Sanborns also has very helpful Travelog publications which can guide you on your trip throughout Mexico and into Central America.

We are not partners with this insurance site or this insurance provider so we cannot say how accurate this information is. I would suggest researching them yourself and then contacting them regarding your auto insurance needs.

We hope you have a great drive from Texas to Costa Rica. Once you find the insurance coverage that will cover you for your whole trip, please leave a comment on our site so that we can help others that wish to drive the Pan-American Highway and needs tips on finding insurance for this extraordinary drive.
