My windshield was broken in an act of vandalism. Do I have to pay my deductible in Florida?

No, in Florida if you have physical damage coverages of collision or comprehensive then your deductible does not need to be paid, it is waived if your front windshield is in need of repair or replacement. Comprehensive is the usual type of insurance coverage that covers vandalism and glass breakage.

Florida Statute 627.7288 is the FL law that requires the deductible to be waived for windshield glass that needs repaired or replaced. The basics of this statute states that the deductible provisions of any Florida motor vehicle insurance policy, providing comprehensive or combined additional coverage, shall not be applicable to damage to the windshield of any motor vehicle covered under such policy.

You should make a claim for the windshield through your comprehensive coverage and since you are in Florida with a Florida auto insurance policy the deductible should be waived.
