I received a moving violation in Idaho but I live in Oregon. Will this go on my driving record?

Idaho and Oregon are both members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC) so the ID ticket conviction will be reported to Oregon's Department of Transportation.

It would seem from the information given in the Reciprocal agreements and interstate compacts section of the Oregon Revised statutes (ORS) 802.500 to 802.540 that the Idaho moving violation, or other out of state tickets, will be placed on your OR driving record. In this ORS section it basically states that Oregon must treat out-of-state conduct the same as it would treat in-state conduct. So if the moving violation citation you received in Idaho is also considered a moving violation in Oregon and a conviction of this would be put on your Oregon driving record then the Idaho ticket should be treated the same way.

Traffic violations remain on Oregon driving records for approximately 10 years from the conviction date, according to DMV. Oregon does not operate on a point system for traffic offenses, so points will not be assigned for Idaho moving violation.

You can contact the OR DOT to find out more information about how they handle out of state tickets, specifically your violation from Idaho, and if the specific offense you were cited for would go on your Oregon driving record if you are convicted of it in ID.
