The Highway Loss Data Institute put together a report taking into account data from 2002 - 2004 and found that the least expensive automobiles to insure, in terms of collision losses, included cars such as:

- Mazda MPV
- Ford Taurus station wagon
Some of the cars that topped the most expensive collision loss list during this same time period included the:
- Mercedes CL-Class
- Subaru Impreza WRX
- Honda S2000
- Jaguar XJ & XK convertible
