It would appear that your home state of Alabama suspended your driver's license which then makes your license suspended in all states.
In Georgia the OCGA (Georgia Code) states in section 40-5-20 that a driver's license is required. OCGA section 40-5-121 gives information on driving in GA while license suspended or revoked discusses penalties for driving without a valid license. Here it states:
(a) Any person who drives a motor vehicle on any public highway of this state at a time when his privilege to do so is suspended, disqualified, or revoked shall be guilty of a misdemeanor for a first conviction thereof and, upon a first conviction thereof or plea of nolo contendere within five years, as measured from the dates of previous arrests for which convictions were obtained to the date of the current arrest for which a conviction is obtained, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than two days nor more than 12 months, and there may be imposed in addition thereto a fine of not less than $500.00 nor more than $1,000.00.
For the second or subsequent conviction within five years, as measured from the dates of previous arrests for which convictions were obtained or pleas of nolo contendere were accepted to the date of the current arrest for which a conviction is obtained or a plea of nolo contendere is accepted, such person shall be guilty of a high and aggravated misdemeanor and shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than ten days nor more than 12 months and there may be imposed in addition thereto a fine of not less than $1,000.00 nor more than $2,500.00.
To find out more about the fine or jail time that you could receive for this offense, call the GA court listed on your ticket and/or contact the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) to see if there are any different penalties since your license was from out of state.
In case you get charged with this same offense in Alabama then there would also be penalties to face there as well.
Section 32-6-19 of the Alabama Code gives the penalties for driving with a suspended license in AL. Here it states that any person whose driver's license issued in this or another state or whose driving privilege as a nonresident has been cancelled, denied, suspended, or revoked as provided in this article and who drives any motor vehicle upon the highways of this state while his or her license or privilege is cancelled, denied, suspended, or revoked shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500), and in addition thereto may be imprisoned for not more than 180 days.
In addition to all fines, fees, costs, and punishments prescribed by law, there shall be imposed or assessed an additional penalty of fifty dollars ($50) to be placed in the Traffic Safety Trust Fund and the Peace Officers Standards and Training Fund. Also, at the discretion of the Director of Public Safety, the person's license may be revoked for an additional revocation period of six months.
