The Wyoming Department of Transportation (DOT) gives information on their requirement for the SR-22 by stating that an SR-22 is an insurance certificate that comes from your insurance company and is filed with the state.
Wyoming Statute 31-9-401 requires that proof of financial responsibility be required whenever a person's driving privilege is mandatory suspended or revoked. Proof of financial responsibility is required to be maintained for 3 years from the date it is required. When an SR-22 is on file, it obligates the insurance company to notify the department whenever there is a cancellation of the insurance.
So the SR-22 is required to by carried for 3 years in the state of Wyoming.
The WY DOT goes on to say that you may need to start filing your SR-22 before your suspension is over or your registration will be suspended if the SR-22 is not on file. If you have any vehicles that are registered in your name only that someone else is going to drive, the SR-22 must be on file.
If this is not the case, you do not need to file the SR-22 until the end of your suspension. It is best to start the process at least 3 weeks before the SR-22 is needed because it can take the insurance companies 2-3 weeks to file the SR-22. If the SR-22 is not on file by the end of your mandatory suspension, you will remain suspended until the SR-22 is on file.
If you do not own a vehicle then if you will be driving vehicles for work, you can see if your employer's insurance company will file an SR-22 for you. If not, you can get a non-owner's policy that would cover you for whatever vehicle you drive.
