While Georgia is not part of the Drivers License Compact (DLC), which South Carolina is a part of, GA still has agreements with other states to share ticket information and receive in information on its licensed drivers violations out of state. So if you pay the fine and are convicted of speeding in SC then their courts should inform Georgia of this offense.
We contacted the GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) which replied that yes points could be accessed to your Georgia driving record after a conviction of a South Carolina traffic ticket since they will be informed by the SC courts or see it when they connect to the National Registry.
So if you are convicted of the South Carolina speeding citation it will go on your Georgia driving record and could have points assigned to it. If it is a violation that normally is assigned points in Georgia then it will most likely be assigned points as if the offense had occurred out of state.
The DDS also notes that a Georgia licensed driver shall have their license suspended for a conviction of serious offenses in Georgia or any other state. Check with the DDS site for a list of these violations.
A representative for the Georgia Department of Driver Services stated that according to GA Code 40-5-57 that points related to a conviction of a speeding violation remains on your driving record for 24 months (2 years).
The DDS also stated that the actual violations remain on your record indefinitely. So the speeding violation conviction will remain on your driver's history permanently.
