Comprehensive coverage protects you against running into wild animals such as a deer.
Other Than Collision (OTC) also known as Comprehensive coverage covers your vehicle, and other vehicles (in limited scenarios) you may be driving for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged by flood, fire, or animals. Comprehensive coverage pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you choose.
The other type of Physical Damage coverage is Collision.Collision covers damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other object. It pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you choose.
Both Physical Damage coverages are limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy.
If you have had a run in with a wild animal such as a deer on the roadway than you can make a claim under your Comprehensive coverage so that your insurer can pay for the damage, minus the deductible associated with this portion of your auto insurance policy.
