According to the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) when visiting AK you are welcome to use your valid non-commercial out-of-state / country license to drive in Alaska, provided you are at least 16 years of age. If you will be driving in Alaska for more than 90 days, you are required to obtain an Alaska driver license within that 90 day time period. If you have a commercial driver license, you must obtain an Alaska license within 30 days of becoming a resident.
It appears you already obtained your Alaska driver's license but want to know if your previous Wyoming driving record has followed you to AK or if you start now with a clean record. We contacted the AK DMV to find out if your old state's driving record is placed on your new Alaska motor vehicle record (MVR) or not. The representative that responded stated that only if you have a commercial driver's license (CDL) would your previous state's violations and actions be placed on your new Alaska driving record.
Keep in mind though that an insurance company, potential employer, etc could still contact WY and request your driving record information there since your Alaska driving record is so new. An insurance company will request your WY MVR to help rate you since they are cannot get a clear picture of your driving record from your new Alaska one that just was started.
