The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner notes on their site that the WA code requires the insurer to acknowledge notification of a claim with 15 working days. Your insurance company is required to provide any necessary claim forms, instructions, and reasonable assistance so that you can comply with the policy conditions and any reasonable requirements.
The Washington Administrative Code (WAC) states that an insurer (insurance company) shall complete its investigation within thirty days after notification of a claim, unless such investigation cannot reasonably be completed within that time. If an insurer is unable to contact or locate its policyholder, the investigation may take longer. If they cannot complete the investigation within 30 days they are required to keep you updated on the progress of their investigation (WAC 284-30-370).
Since you found the Washington State insurance regulator's website hard to negotiate for information on this subject we would advise you to contact them directly with your issues with the insurance company you are dealing with. The WA Office of the Insurance Commissioner should be able to offer you consumer advice, give you information on insurance laws and allow you to make a complaint against the insurance company if you feel the need to do so.
You also can keep contacting the claims adjuster that is assigned to your claim for an update on what is going on with your claim and when you can expect to get your vehicle repaired. If you do not yet have an insurance adjuster to contact than get your agent to help you find out what the holdup is with your claim.
