I recently purchased a motorcycle in CA. I did not get an insurance policy on it yet. My current insurance (I have on my car) does not do motorcycle policies. Will my motorcycle be covered automatically against theft for 30 days under my car policy?

It is highly unlikely that your car insurance coverage would extend any coverages, included Comprehensive which would cover if motorcycle was stolen, to the motorcycle you just bought in California. This is so for a few reasons.

First most policies only extend to a new car you purchase when you are replacing a car already on your policy. In these cases than the coverages on the car you trading in or otherwise are replacing would extend to the new vehicle for a period of a few days up to a few weeks depending upon your insurance company’s guidelines and/or state laws.

When you are adding a car, motorcycle, etc to your motor vehicle insurance policy it if is not taking the place of some other vehicle than it normally is not extended coverage automatically like a car replacing another car on the policy and thus you need to inform your insurance agent as soon as you buy the vehicle to add it and have it covered under your policy.

Auto insurance policies do not normally extend to a motorcycle; you need to purchase a motorcycle policy specifically for the bike to have it covered. Not all insurers even offer motorcycle insurance so if yours does not than you would have to get a policy on the bike from a different insurance provider.

Since you stated that your insurance company in fact does not do motorcycle policies you will have to insure the bike with a different insurance carrier. That makes it a good time to shop around to see if you can get a better premium for all your vehicles if you changed to an insurer that covered both autos and motorcycles.

The general rule is that automobile insurance policies do not apply to motorcycles, especially if your insurer does not even write motorcycle policies. So you can speak to your agent about your situation but it is very doubtful your motorcycle would be covered for anything, including theft, until you purchase your own insurance coverage for it.
