Yes, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (DOT) you could register a car on your own at age 16. In WY there is not a minimum age to buy, title or register a vehicle. The WY DOT advised us to check with a County Clerks office, since they issue vehicle titles, for more information.
A WY Country Clerks office told us that you could title and register the vehicle in your own name at age 16; however, you could not sell a vehicle until you reached your 18th birthday because a minor cannot enter into a contract. This would mean you most likely would not be able to finance the car and you would also want to check on the status of insuring the car.
So while registering and titling a car when you are under the age of 18 may be possible in Wyoming you may have issues with buying and financing or selling a car because there would be contracts involved and at 16 years of age you are still a minor.
Insurance would also be an issue since the policy is a contract and thus most all insurance companies would require you to have a parent or guardian sign on your Wyoming insurance policy with you. You can get your young drivers insurance needs here.
