The state which you received your speeding ticket in, Idaho, and your home state of Illinois are both members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC). This means that the ID courts or DMV will report to the Illinois Secretary of State Driver's Services division this speeding violation if you are convicted of this offense.
The drivers section of the IL Secretary of State site does not mention specifically that out of state tickets are put on your driving record but Title 92, Chapter II, Section 1040.20 of the Illinois Administrative Code is the Illinois offense table. Here it notes that all out-of-state convictions are to be considered and to be coded exactly as Illinois Vehicle Code violations with the exception of the first digit which shall be an “8.”
From the Administrative Code information we surmise that of state moving violations will be added to your Illinois driving record and assigned points.
Once the Idaho speeding ticket is placed on your IL driving record your insurance company will be able to see it next time they pull your motor vehicle record (MVR). At this time it could affect your rates depending upon your insurance company's rating system.
To reduce the impact to you in Illinois, such as avoiding an increase in your insurance premiums, you may see if there is way to counteract the out of state ticket, such as taking a driver improvement course or traffic school in Idaho to get the offense dismissed or adjudication withheld. The Idaho court listed on your speeding ticket should be able to tell you if there a traffic school option that would keep you from being convicted of the speeding ticket and thus keep it from being reported to your home state of Illinois.
