QuestionInsurance Question  I am trading in my car. Do I need to cancel my insurance coverage or will it automatically be cancelled when I sign over the title? If the dealer wrecks my car, I don't want to be liable.

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

You will no longer be liable for your vehicle once you sell it. Also, you will need to request that your policy be cancelled as it does not automatically happen when you sign over the title. The insurance company does not have knowledge of this until you inform them. If your policy is with CarInsurance.com you can contact our customer service department for assistance.

When you get another vehicle and are ready to compare auto insurance you can get an instant auto insurance quote here.
