This is a hard decision, but it is a part of taking on the responsibilities of driving. The reason the rates are higher is because the risk is much higher for a younger driver, but that doesn't make it any easier to pay the higher premium. The rates would be higher if it is a male or female.

Comment Update: Rights should not be confused with risk. Rates are higher for both young male drivers and young female drivers. Insurance is about spreading risk, from an individual to many other individuals and there are many forms of discrimination and only unjust discrimination is illegal and wrong. CarInsurance.com believes that illegal insurance discrimination is wrong, especially if there is no statsitical basis used to differentiate rates.
