QuestionInsurance Question  My sister was recently hit while driving in a parking lot, she has a suspended license and the car she was driving was uninsured and unregistered. The driver of the other car was at fault but is now trying to get my sister to pay for a small scratch that she caused on her own car, meanwhile my sisters car has a very large dent in the passenger side. The other driver has liability insurance, will this cover the damages done to the car, although it was not registered?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

Even with your sister having a suspended license and driving in an unregistered and uninsured car if the other person was at-fault in the accident according to most state laws they would be responsible to pay for the damage they caused.

If the police are involved it is likely that your sister will be getting a hefty fine or much harsher penalties for driving a vehicle without a license, insurance or registration. Since the accident was done in a parking lot, which is generally considered private property, the police might not want to become involved.
