QuestionInsurance Question  I live in Pennsylvania. My insurance lapsed for over 30 days and my registration has been suspended for 90 days. Is there any way to get my registration reinstated before the 90 days? I have no accidents is there anyway to get retroactive coverage?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

If the penalty for allowing your insurance to lapse for over 30 days is a 90 day suspension of your registration it is unlikely that you can get it reinstated early. You could call up the Department of Motor Vehicles for your area of Pennsylvania to find out if there is any way to speed up the process though.

Typically when you are reinstated you will need to show proof of financial responsibility with regards to your car insurance. Once your registration is reinstated you can get the insurance policy you need. It is doubtful that you will find an insurance company that will allow retroactive coverage.
