North Carolina and Florida are both members of the Drivers License Compact and the Non-Resident Violator Compact. These Compacts allow NC to report back to Florida information regarding your speeding ticket back and if you do not take care of this out state violation FL can suspend your license.
When Florida finds out about this moving violation the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Services (HSMV) will add the out of state citation to your driving record and assess points if the offense is a point-accessible violation according to Florida statutes.
Going more than 15 mph over the posted speed in North Carolina, while driving at a speed higher than 55 mph, can result in NC revoking your driving privilege for 30 days. Since this citation has such a penalty and can cause difficulties in your home state if you do not take care of it you will need to see if you can move back the court date if you cannot make it.
Try contacting the court or entity listed on your ticket to see if you can move the court date to a time in which you can make it up to NC. If you are unable to do so, you might need to find legal council to represent you at the court. For more information the NCDOT Division of Motor Vehicles might be of help.
