Bodily Injury (BI) is a liability coverage that covers other people's injuries (or death) that you are responsible for resulting from a car accident. The other party's claims for bodily injury may be for things such as medical bills, loss of income or pain and suffering. BI thus covers injury to other people you hit, not you or your vehicle.
If you were injured in the accident where your vehicle hydroplaned due to the slick, rain soaked roadways; you may have insurance to cover you. The types of car insurance that cover the driver for injuries in an accident, no matter who is at fault, include: Personal Injury Protection (PIP), Medical Payments (MP), and First Party Benefits-Medical.
