QuestionInsurance Question  My 1966 Mustang was hit by a shopping cart at the mall. The wind was blowing very strongly that day. Would I be covered under comprehensive, my deductible is only 100.00? Would the wind be considered a force of nature?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

You will need to check with your insurance company, but I would suspect this would be covered under your” collision” coverage and not comprehensive. In general, collision means the impact of your insured car with another object or upset of your insured car. A shopping cart is an object so this will more than likely be considered a collision claim, even if a gust of wind is what blew the cart into your car.

Once you make a claim with your insurance provider a claims adjuster should investigate the damage and determine which of your physical damage coverages, collision or comprehensive, the damage to your Mustang should be placed under.
