We were unable to find information stating that the Learner "L" plates must be placed in a specific place. All the information we found on the subject stated only that as a learner driver you must display 'L' plates ('L' or 'D' plates in Wales) in a conspicuous position on the front and rear of the vehicle you are driving.
The government wants the fact that you are a learner to be clearly shown on the front and back of the vehicle in the form of "L" plates. These plates should be obtainable from most garages or motorist shops.
If find out if the L plates really do need to be affixed in a specific place, try contacting the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
