QuestionInsurance Question  I live in Alberta, Canada and have the driver license there but I have to work in the Texas, US. I got a speeding ticket in Texas and I'm wondering will that affect my insurance in Alberta? Will the people in Canada be able to track my speeding recording in Texas?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

It will depend on if your Alberta, Canada insurance provider will see this Texas ticket on your driving record or not if it will affect your rates. We are not certain if Texas will report this speeding ticket back to Alberta or if the infraction will be placed on your driver record.

We found the Alberta Reciprocal Enforcement of Judgments Act which on it lists all other Canadian provinces and territories as well as Australia, and the following States in the US - Washington, Idaho and Montana. This reciprocal agreement may or may not extend to driving infractions in these areas.

I would recommend checking with the Minister of Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation to find out if Alberta has a reciprocal agreement with Texas, and other states, regarding traffic offenses. If there are agreements ask it means the offense will be listed on your driver record where it could affect your insurance rates.
