QuestionInsurance Question  If I let someone borrow my car and they get a speeding ticket will it go on my insurance or theirs?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

States law can vary but in general the ticket should have been written to your friend and his or her license number and thus would go on his or her driver's license record and affect his or her insurance and not yours.

If the ticket was written to the car instead for say an expired registration then it would be placed against your license in most states.

Generally a moving violation citation received by someone else driving your car would not affect your insurance rates. If for some reason it does you can get a cheap car insurance quote here.
