QuestionInsurance Question  I'm 17 and I recently got my junior license, if I get into a car accident will my mother's car insurance cover it?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

Your mother will need to check with her insurance carrier to see if you would be covered when driving her vehicle. If you have not yet been added as a driver to the policy then you may not be properly covered. With a learner's permit you may not have had to be placed on the policy but normally once you obtain your junior or full license your parent's insurance company will require you to be added as a driver in order to be covered when driving the family vehicles.

Since different insurance companies have different underwriting rules regarding when to add a child depending upon theirĀ graduated licensing status you or your mother will need to find out for certain if you are covered to drive her vehicle.
