QuestionInsurance Question  I'd like to know if I can take my son, who is 21 and still lives with me, off my car insurance if he turns in his license? Is that proof that he is no longer driving to the insurance company?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

While insurance companies' guidelines may differ if you can prove that a driver on your policy has turned in his license voluntarily then generally you should be able to take him off your policy.

To see what your insurance company requires of you in order to take your son off of your policy, check with your agent. To see if your state has any insurance laws governing this type of situation you may contact your state's insurance regulatory body.
