QuestionInsurance Question  If you have full coverage insurance in Georgia, is your windshield free to replace if damaged by debris? I know Florida does it, but I don't know about Georgia.

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

Windshield damage caused by debris would be covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance policy.

Broken windshields and other glass repairs or replacements are typically covered under the comprehensive coverage portion of an auto insurance policy. Comprehensive coverage normally provides coverage for physical damage to your vehicle caused not by a collision with an object or another vehicle, but by a variety of other specific perils.

Georgia does not have a state law or statute like Florida does that requires the comprehensive deductible to be waived for a windshield repair or replacement. While it is not required by GA for the deductible to be waived if your windshield needs replaced you may ask your insurance company if their internal guidelines allow for the deductible to be waived.
