I got in my car my driveway had a lot of water started my car proceeded to back out and my car died. I am being told that my engine got water in it. Can I collect from my homeowners insurance?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

Your car's damages due to the flooding issues is not likely to be covered under your homeowners policy. It would though usually be covered under comprehensive coverage auto insurance if you have this on your car.

Comprehensive coverages cover your vehicle, and sometimes other vehicles you may be driving for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged by flood, fire, or animals.

If you have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle call your car insurance agent to place a claim for the damage the flooding in your area did to your vehicle.
