QuestionInsurance Question  I just recently passed my CDL test for a class B license in PA. I haven't received my new license yet and was pulled over this morning on my way to work. My violation (failure to stop at a red light) has now earned me 3 points. How will this effect my CDL?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

According to the Pennsylvania commercial driver's manual you will lose your CDL:

For at least 60 days if you have committed two serious traffic violations within a 3-year period involving a CMV.

For at least 120 days for three (3) serious traffic violations within a 3-year period. "Serious traffic violations" include but are not limited to traffic offenses committed in a CMV in connection with fatal traffic accidents, excessive speeding, reckless driving, or eluding the police.

To get more information on how traffic offenses such as failing to stop at a red light and the associated points can affect your CDL contact the PennDOT.
