QuestionInsurance Question  I have a Pennsylvania drivers license and I am only 17 years old. I got pulled over for doing 79 in a 55 MPH zone. How many points am I going to get on my license and how many do I have to get before it gets suspended?

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

In Pennsylvania being convicted of a speeding offense for 16 to 25 mph over the limit means you will be assessed 4 points by PennDOT.

The PA DMV notes that the driving privilege of a person under the age of 18 will be suspended if that person accumulates six (6) or more points or is convicted of driving 26 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit.

For a driver under 18 years of age for these offenses, the first suspension will be for a period of 90 days. Any additional occurrences will result in a suspension of 120 days. This suspension is in addition to the requirements of the point system found below.
