According to a representative of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (a section of the NC DOT), violations remain on a NC driving record indefinitely and do not at after any length of time drop off.

The representative stated this includes suspensions, DUIs, accidents and minor violations such as a speeding conviction. So if you were convicted of a DUI in North Carolina that was placed on your driving record it will remain on your NC DMV record permanently.
